Kim Simmonds, PhD, assumed the role of Primary Care Alberta Chief Executive Officer on Nov. 18, 2024. Kim is an accomplished executive with a wealth of experience in leadership roles within the public and private sector. She served as an Alberta Assistant Deputy Minister of Health, and as a Senior Manager in an international accounting and finance firm. Kim holds a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Calgary. When not working Kim can be found running in Edmonton’s river valley or in the mountains with her family.
Rob Skrypnek is the Executive Lead, Planning and Quality. Prior to this he was the Executive Lead of the Modernizing Alberta’s Primary Health Care System (MAPS) initiative and the Senior Program Officer for Primary Health Care at AHS. Much of his work over the past 10 years has involved supporting AHS and Primary Care Network partners to address key issues facing primary care teams, working with government to support the development of primary and community health policy and strategy, and facilitating the integration of primary care services with AHS and other community services. Rob is a life-long Albertan living in St. Albert with his wife and two daughters.
Patricia Chambers (Tricia), RN, DC, MN, is the Executive Lead of Patient Navigation and System Integration. Tricia began her career as a Registered Nurse and is passionate about primary care; she assumed her first leadership position with the chronic disease nursing program when Primary Care Networks (PCNs) were established. Tricia has held a number of roles in public health and at Health Link 811, most recently leading the Virtual Care Access and Navigation Portfolio, which includes the Health Link 811, Interpretation & Translation Services, Virtual Health, RAAPID and PADIS (Poison and Drug Information System) teams. Tricia enjoys traveling with her husband to visit her two sons and daughter; her kitchen is her happy place.
Rod Iwanow, RN, BN, MA, is the Executive Lead, Community Clinic Supports. He brings over 20 years of leadership experience to this new role, most recently as the Zone Director for Primary Care, Chronic Disease Management and Urban Urgent Care in the Calgary Zone. In this role Rod led numerous primary care and chronic disease management programs and worked in partnership with Calgary PCN’s on joint zone initiatives at both the governance and operations levels. Rod is a life-long Albertan, lives in Calgary and is married with two daughters.
William Hondas (Bill), BBA, MPA, is the Executive Lead of Strategic Services. He is also the Senior Program Officer for AHS’ Provincial Medical Affairs portfolio. William has held senior level roles both in Alberta and Nova Scotia. Prior to joining PCA and AHS he was the Vice President for Primary Care, Infection Control & Public Health for the David Thompson Health Region where he was responsible for establishing Primary Care Network partnerships and coordinating comprehensive primary care services.
